Trim Saws & Cutoff Saws Are Part Of Integrated Foam Board Product Line

This picture shows the two side trims saws in the foreground and the flying cutoff saw in the middle of a cut in the background. Click to enlarge. Kornylak offers side trim saws and flying cutoff saws as part of its integrated insulation foam board production line. Side trim saws are designed to trim the edges of the panels. The flying cutoff saws cut the continuous foam board to the desired length. Here you can see the ripping saw blade lowered inside the dust removal housing with the safety lid open. Side Trim Saws
The side trim unit consists of two saws, which continuously trim the edges of cured foam board product. Each individual unit has an independent drive. The saw blades have various diameters, with carbide tips. Manual adjustments of the blades can produce 36” to 48” wide product accurately. A central blade can be included to slice the board into narrower widths, if desired.

Dust shrouds around each saw have connections suitable for hookup to the central dust removal system. Each trim saw blade consists of both trimmers and choppers mounted on the same spindle. This chopper cuts the trim-scrap so that the smaller pieces of the scrap can be handled by the dust removal system.

Vertical saw position is controlled locally and from the central console. Pneumatic cylinders raise the saw assembly from below to engage the product. Electronic brakes stop the saws within seconds. Here, the flying cutoff saw has clamped the foam board and is half way through a cut. Click to enlarge.

Flying Cutoff Saw
The automatic flying cutoff saw separates the continuous foam board into panels of predetermined lengths. Minimum standard length is 48", with no maximum limit. Board length is controlled electronically. An optical encoder using a calibrated wheel rides the product to accurately measure the true length as well as the true line speed for cutoff control. Inside the yellow dust shroud is the saw blade of the flying cutoff saw. Click to enlarge.

Length setting controls, digitally display actual length to be cut. Counters on the saw console tally the number of boards cut. Manual override and emergency controls are provided. Saw traverse speed is electronically synchronized with the variable line speed when necessary and compensates for any speed fluctuations caused by the conveyor.

The saw blade retracts clear of the product for the return stroke. Shrouds are provided about the cutting zone for safety and for hookup to the central dust removal system.
