Kornylak manufactures two types of Block Mold machines: the solid polystyrene block molder and the polystyrene panel molder. The solid block molder makes a large, one-piece block of solid polystyrene. The panel molder produces a polystyrene insulated structural panel.

Characteristics Of The Block Molder
The compact block molds are almost completely closed. Apart from a built-in ejection device, their only moving part is a hydraulically operated door for the mold chamber. That makes the molds extremely tight against steam and vacuum losses.

The mold is filled with pre-expanded material through an attached ventilator, without material losses and within 30 to 60 seconds.

The block molds are capable of automatic operation or manual operation with automatic vacuum cycles.

An extremely quick and uniform expansion is assured by the special stainless steel slotted screen design of the interior walls of the mold chamber, together with large dimension vent pipes and fast acting vacuum valves.

The free section of passage for vaporization through the wedge wire screen and venting is approx. 8% of the surface on all six sides of the mold chamber.

A built-in vaporization bypass keeps the expansion pressure constant over a programmed period of time controlled by internal pressure sensors.

The block molds meet the most stringent requirements for:

  • perfect interior bonding
  • good corner and edge bonding
  • uniform density distribution
  • low water content
  • short production cycles.
